Binley Park
Sixth Form.
Head Boys and Girls.
This page shows who was head Boy and Girl each year.
For those who are wondering what the heck this is all about, each year the Lower Sixth form had a ballot near to the end of summer term, to determine who would be Head Boy and Girl the following School year. Each pupil nominated a fellow Boy and Girl who they felt was worthy of the title. The ones with most votes were Head Boy and Girl, the next 4 most popular (2 Girls/2 Boys) were Deputies. At least that's how it happened in my year.
In later years, I am told that there were Student Councils, with a representative from each House Group. This seems to fit in with the sweeping changes that appeared to happen at Binley in the 80's - when all the Houses were renamed/combined. Sixth formers also moved to Ernesford Grange Community College, with BPCS maintaining 1st-5th years. If you know different, let me know.
Several of these people
have looked in and signed the Guestbook. Where appropriate, I have added a link
to their email.
The list is now complete, thanks to Colin and Anita Masters, the First Head
Boy and Girl, who married in 1967. If you know any of the deputies, or which
house any of them were in, please drop
me a line
| The School Captains Plaque from Binley Park School Hall. |
|
|
| One of the only surviving pieces of memorabilia from Binley Park, is this, the Plaque that was displayed on the right hand side of the Assembly Hall Stage. It was presented to Colin and Anita Masters (Nee Thomas), the First Head Boy and Girl (or Captains) - who were subsequently married - when the school was closed in 1990. The photograph was taken by Colin himself, and kindly donated for use on the website. For any former Heads looking in, this may indeed be the first time you've seen your name on the board, as I believe they were added after the year served. The chart below is now of course more complete. |
