on a new Coventry comprehensive school, at Binley, near Binley Mixed School,
is planned to start in March, next year. It will be a "co-ed" school, where girls can learn homecraft subjects in specialist blocks, and the boys can study heavy crafts in a workshop.... |

So ran the story in the Coventry Evening Telegraph, on October 24th 1957. Seems rather sexist nowadays, but such were the times. |

| Coventry
education chiefs were greeted by more than 100 banner-waving children when
they visited a Coventry school which is threatened with closure.
The pupil protest demonstration was staged yesterday at Binley Park comprehensive which is one of eight schools facing the axe under proposals drawn up by a city council working party on the future of education in Coventry.....
Thus had started the final chapter of 'Our' School, that now only exists as Memories..... |
