Q & A
Questions and Answers
Q. What did the mosaics in the School Hall represent, and who made them?
A. — If you know the answer, or remember any of the designs, please let me know —
Q. Why are there two Unicorns on the School Badge? Are they related to the Triangular shield? I think that part is something to do with the Adam family, on whose Estate BPS was built (Coombe Abbey and all that). So maybe it is all the Adam family crest.
A. The School Badge, or Crest, has strong links with the Craven family of Coombe Abbey, who owned the land around Binley, including their family church – St. Bartholomew's. Inside the church is a Glass engraving with a similar Crest to the School Badge, which celebrated the Bi-centenary of the Church.
Q. Did the 'Pool' between Bardsley/Hunt and Whittle/Robson EVER contain water?
A. Apparently not, it seems to be an oversight by the Architect/Designer of the school that such a feature would be a hazard to it's pupils!
Q. What is on the site now?
A. A mixture of Commercial property, and housing (See the Before and After pictures in the Gallery)
Q. On what date did the School open? What buildings did it comprise.
A. Binley Park Opened in September 1959. See the History Part II page
Q. On what date did it close?
